Wicca (Witchcraft) is a religion that helps the individual recognize the divinity within him or herself. By using the
techniques and practices of
Wicca, you become one with your natural surroundings. You begin to understand that all
exists within the Spirit and you are a divine co-creator of that power. A Witch’s number one ambition is to find
balance in their life, (in all aspects of their life). A good Witch is not judged by their possessions or amount of money,
or even by how powerful their magick. They are judged by whether or not they have achieved balance in their mind,
body and soul.
The purpose of learning magick is not to gain power over the natural energies and command them, but rather to learn
to work in harmony and resonance with them, to make your life flow much easier and without strife. This
doesn’t mean you will eliminate strife totally from your life, it means when strife enters your life you are better
prepared to deal with it, and it doesn’t affect you as much. Becoming a Witch won’t happen overnight. It is a lifetime
study and practice.
In
Wicca and Paganism the focus is on the natural energies of the Earth and Cosmos. Worshipping the Goddess and
the God along with the elemental energies of earth, air, fire and water creates interconnectedness with the forces that
make up our Universe.
Wicca has roots in old religious practices of the indigenous people of Europe. Many pantheons of Gods and
Goddesses of the Celtic, Nordic and Germanic traditions are honored in modern
Wiccan traditions today. In times
past,
Wicca was promoted and propagated by Covens, small groups of people who would gather to worship and
practice the ancient rites. With the increased interest and growth in
Wicca, the need to make the religion more
accessible has risen.

According to Answers.com
recent surveys suggest the
modern religion of Wicca is
the fastest growing religion
in the United Sates today.
With its re-introduction of
the concept and belief in the
feminine aspect of divinity,
people seem to be drawn to
this spiritual path. Wicca’s
non-authoritative structure
and lack of dogma make it
appealing to those looking
for a very personal religious
experience.
